Film makers all over the world are exploring themes related to the culture of Islam. One important theme is the empowerment of women, with stories of triumph, overcoming insurmountable odds, and winning rights which thus far were thought of as impossible. Rudewater celebrates this not so quiet revolution with powerful footage of Muslim women in the workplace, educational settings, family situations, rural and urban enterprises.
In the upcoming documentary on the empowerment of women in the Muslim world, Rudewater footage is prominently featured.

Scholarship Award for “The Veil”
Graduating student Karl Kottman (UCI Film School) embarked on an adventurous mission of making a unique film about the veil. The story revolves around young Muslim women living in permissive western cultures but taking on modest Islamic attire, while their counterparts in the more traditional societies of the East are shedding them for sleeveless blouses, tight jeans and bare midriffs. The story goes beyond dress and attire and explores the philosophy and motivation behind the change. Karl applied and qualified for a Rudewater Scholarship and received stock and custom footage for his project through Rudewater.
